“I never thought in America…”

Yeonmi Park tells her story, and it’s practically unbelievable. Wise people will learn from her experiences.

Best Ways to Make America Better
by Admin on Jul.13, 2021, under Character, Ethics / Morality, Principles, Wisdom
Per Dennis Prager:
No. 1: Developing one’s moral character.
No. 2: Getting married and making a good family.
No. 3. Taking care of one’s family, especially one’s parents.
No. 4. Going to church (or synagogue).
No. 5. Taking care of the poor in one’s community, usually by joining a service organization such as a church charity, a Kiwanis, Lions or Rotary Club.
It’s Up To You

No matter who wins this election (or any other), it’s still up to you to make your life. Each candidate may make it harder or easier than another, but it’s still up to you.
That may be the best lesson in life.
Trump
by Admin on Mar.08, 2016, under Character, Principles
I don’t know much about him, really. But I’ve seen enough over the years to know that there’s enough “stuff” on him out there to bury him when the time comes. And I’m sure the media is holding back until he’s the nominee. And then Hillary might just beat the only person on the planet she could beat.
Trumpites have no idea where he stands. He creates (whether intentionally or by accident) “strategic ambiguity.” Just the perfect phrase I first saw used here regarding Trump and the definition of conservatism.
A vote for Trump is a vote for what, exactly? I have no idea, and I bet you don’t either, really.

Leave a Comment more...I’ll Give Up My Bill…
by Admin on Jul.28, 2015, under Character, Ethics / Morality, Principles
…If you give up yours.
My Bill is Cosby. Definitely a childhood memory. A great one. I went to bed listening to records (not recordings) of his comedy. Going to the dentist. Racing go carts. And who could forget Noah and “who’s gonna clean up that mess down there?” He holds a doctorate in education. I read several of his books; good stuff.
Some of you are/were Bill Clinton fans. Guess what? Turns out neither particularly deserves our respect. Bill Cosby fooled me. Bill Clinton did not.
I have to give you some leniency here about Bill Clinton. Though his womanizing was far more public, he had far more people and organizations giving him cover. The media, the feminists, the Dems, for example. His own wife, amazingly. And he was doing such great things for the country, how could we let a little thing like destroying women for his own sexual pleasure get in the way. (That last line was sarcastic if you didn’t catch it.)
I’ll double down. I’ll not only give up Cosby, but I’ll give up all his supporters as well – if you give up Clinton and all his. Deal?
Hard Times
by Admin on Jul.01, 2015, under Character, Principles, Truisms
In more negative moods, I can see quite clearly that the U.S. is bound for hard times. I can convince myself that we’re headed for third world status.
If that’s true, here’s an interesting article, “10 Forgotten Truths to Help You Get Through Hard Times“. It’s more geared to personal hard times (loss of loved one, job loss, etc.), but I think it will help in a bigger “bad times” sense as well.
Don’t forget your Faith. There have been plenty of times in human history when Faith was all people had.
Look throughout history. How can anyone not see that “government” is nearly always the problem, the oppressor? The U.S. governmental experiment, as documented in our founding papers, was truly a one-of-a-kind attempt at forming a government for and by the people. And it worked for a while.
“Judge Not” – Bull Crap
by Admin on Jan.22, 2015, under Character, Ethics / Morality
Heck yes, I’m going to be judgmental. We have to be. We make survival judgments all day long. And we should.
Whether we’re perfect or not.
I saw a post that said, “Before you judge me, make sure you’re perfect.” Don’t count on it, sister. If you’re coming at me with a weapon, I’m going to judge you to be a threat and do whatever possible to stop you, including the use of lethal force. Whether I’m perfect or not.
If you’re a thief, I’m going to judge you accordingly. Whether or not I’m perfect. If you lie, I will judge you to be a liar. Whether or not I’m perfect.
In fact, I know I’m not perfect. But that is not going to slow me down making judgments throughout the day that hopefully will support my life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
I will judge you. And I stand ready to be judged.
Ask not!
by Admin on Jan.01, 2015, under Character
Here’s the resolution I would offer to everyone in the country…
“Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” (JFK)
What a different world it would be.
If only spirits like that dominated.
An Ebola Czar

And just in time!
Oh wait, maybe a little late.
Oh wait, this new czar knows nothing of Ebola or infectious diseases, or even medicine.
Oh.
