Rates vs Revenue (Yes, It Matters)

by on Mar.31, 2016, under Consequences, Do the Math, History, Truisms

The RATE is the percentage at which each of us is taxed. For example, 15% of your income is what you might pay in taxes (depending on your bracket). The REVENUE is the total amount of dollars collected by the government from all the tax payers.

It’s a cold, hard fact. When you raise government tax RATES, tax REVENUE goes down. Conversely, when you lower government tax RATES, the REVENUE goes up. Higher tax RATES impede the economy. Lower tax RATES energize the economy. And when the economy is doing well, more people are paying more taxes and it adds up to more REVENUE to the government.

So, if you want the government to be able to hand out more free stuff, you should go with the candidates who propose lowering tax RATES.

Did you know that Bernie is proposing to raise EVERYONE’s tax rate? We will definitely feel the bern.

Where are the Casualty Reports?

by on Mar.29, 2016, under Do the Math, Truisms

Remember the Vietnam War? Remember the Korean War? Remember on TV e-v-e-r-y night the endless stream of casualty counts? Here are some current casualty counts you may well not be aware of…

Jihad Report: Last 30 Days

Brussels was just too significant to ignore. The left and the media have us on a collision course with a destiny we will share with the rest of the world if we don’t wake up soon.

Get a Kindle Version for FREE

by on Mar.18, 2016, under Uncategorized

U.S.-Constitution-Wikimedia-469x281Did you know you can get a free Kindle version of the U.S. Constitution from Amazon? It’s one of my favorite tactics…

I don’t know how many times someone tries to get me in a “who’s lying” contest. For example, I point out that Harry Reid said something about the content of the Constitution in 2005 and said exactly the opposite in 2016. Which time was he lying? Or confused? Then we start going back and forth about who knows the content of the Constitution.

But the way to end that nonsense kind of conversation is to ask, “Well, have you read the Constitution yourself? What does it actually say about that?”

No one I’ve ever asked has read it.

No wonder we’re going down the tubes.

Stop with the bleeding heart crap

by on Mar.16, 2016, under Do the Math, Truisms

Kasich: ““When you die and get to the meeting with St. Peter, he’s probably not going to ask you much about what you did about keeping government small, but he is going to ask you what you did for the poor. You better have a good answer.”

I have a good answer. Keeping government small and out of the way helps the economy. And it’s a robust economy that gets the most number of people possible out of poverty. And, by the way, otherwise free as well.

Historically, governments keep people down, in every sense.

So, will you stop with the bleeding heart crap? Do the math. That’s where the answers are.

Zero Credit

by on Mar.11, 2016, under Ethics / Morality

“It’s amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered, and if we’re compassionate we’ll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint.” Penn Jillette

There’s another post with a similar message I liked; went something like this… Jesus says, “I told YOU to help the poor, not to get government to do it for you.”

Trump

by on Mar.08, 2016, under Character, Principles

I don’t know much about him, really. But I’ve seen enough over the years to know that there’s enough “stuff” on him out there to bury him when the time comes. And I’m sure the media is holding back until he’s the nominee. And then Hillary might just beat the only person on the planet she could beat.

Trumpites have no idea where he stands. He creates (whether intentionally or by accident) “strategic ambiguity.” Just the perfect phrase I first saw used here regarding Trump and the definition of conservatism.

A vote for Trump is a vote for what, exactly? I have no idea, and I bet you don’t either, really.

Thous Shalt Not Murder

by on Mar.08, 2016, under Ethics / Morality, Words Have Meanings

The proper translation of the 6th Commandment is not “Thou shalt not kill.” It is “Thou shalt not murder.” Big difference.

You can read some of the intricacies here.
